About Soltas Communications
Katie is a passionate award-winning communications and marketing professional with nearly 20 years of experience leading campaigns for travel and lifestyle brands. From 2022 - 2025, she served as Area Director of Field Marketing, MidAmerica for Marriott International and oversaw marketing strategy and destination marketing for the MidWestern region across 18 diverse states. She also guided a team as the regional marketing director for more than 20 Marriott International property marketers (who were incredibly talented!).
In addition to working directly with hotel management groups, Katie focused on the development of projects including the Chicago, Texas, Kansas City/St. Louis and Minneapolis destination campaigns, as well as the US/Canada Weddings & Social Catering annual campaign (B2B). She also conceptualized scalable market partnerships with the Art Institute of Chicago and the Dallas Perot Museum of Nature and science - which garnered participation from nearly 30 hotels while driving substantial room nights and F&B revenue.
Prior to Marriott International, Katie was promoted to senior corporate marketing manager at White Lodging Services to oversee portfolio restaurant marketing efforts after opening four hotels in Texas during the pandemic for WLS. She also held leadership roles at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa, Finn Partners Southeast (Nashville) and Sheraton Kona Resort & spa at Keauhou Bay on Hawaii Island.
With a knack and passion for mentoring others, Katie aims to cultivate a positive culture to drive results while developing talent. Her depth of knowledge includes media relations, social media and digital marketing strategy and demand generation. While early career agency roles provided diverse industry experience, she always came back to her first love - hospitality. With knowledge of Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton digital marketing platforms + a strong background in PR, Katie has a unique repertoire.
During the pandemic, professional hurdles in the hospitality industry brought Soltas Communications to life. Katie began freelancing, working with clients such as OTL Magazine as a travel editor. She formerly partnered with brands as a micro-influencer through the FitTravelingMama blog and brand presence, built in 2018 after beginning the life-changing journey of motherhood.
A native Midwesterner, Katie earned her BA in Journalism - PR & Advertising from Butler University in 2008 and her MA with Distinction in Communications from Hawaii Pacific University in 2010. She enjoys spending time with her husband and children, yoga, CrossFit, running scenic marathons and traveling.
